Durability and performance with 6 – 8 grains

There are many views surrounding grains on a cricket bat. Generally speaking though, the number of grains on a cricket bat is something that can be left to the discretion of the individual. The number of grains will often differ from bat to bat. A cricket bat between 6 and 12 grains is a good indicator of quality willow. Cricket bats with 6 grains, for example, are likely to be slightly softer than 10-12 grains and therefore take longer to knock-in and reach optimal performance initially. However, please note there are some extremely good premium range bats with lower grains.

    Stephen – November 17, 2015:

My bat and gloves arrived. Im very happy with how it picks up and can’t wait to have a hit with it. I’ll be sure to let others know of your quality products.

    Thanks again,

After being surrounded by choice bats for almost all my career, I decided to make the trip down to Redbourn to see what all the hype was about, I was NOT disappointed. I took a friend’s Black Prince with me as I had been using it towards the end of the season as my bat purchased from a major company (who I will NOT be returning to) proved to be £160 of disappointment. After a long chat with Simon, I settled for a Test edition Blenheim bat at 2.9 with 2 grips (later became 1.5). I opted for knocking in as well as this. When I picked up my bat 10 days later, I received an absolute BEAST, with 29mm edges and a 67mm spine. 9 perfectly straight grains with a small knot on the back which look very nice! I am glad I paid for the knocking in because when I tapped it up with a new ball in the store, the ping and response were genuinely unreal, with the top section near the stickers, still rebounding a good 3 foot in the air. The pick up is tremendously light despite the 67mm spine. After using this bat in my county trial, coaching with David Sales and countless indoor net sessions, I am twitching to use this in a match. Without doubt, the best bat I have ever used at an unbelievable price.
